I hate gossip. And sadly, junior high is when gossip is at its peak. Gossip is part of human nature, admit it, you probably love to talk about this person cheating on that person and this person going out with that. I used to gossip a lot too. Now, I'm shutting up. I just realized how much gossip hurts the people gossiped about, the people listening, and even myself (because the person who told me their secret, ends up hating me or not trusting me). When someone tells me their secrets, other people come to me to interrogate me. Its really annoying and these are some ways to stop it:
1.) If someone asks about who likes whoever and etc. IGNORE THEM. Example: Sally asked Bob if Samuel liked her. Since Samuel trusted Bob not to tell, Bob decided to ignore Sally.
2.) If ignoring them doesn't work, change the topic. Example: Sally would not stop annoying Bob about it, so Bob asked Sally if she knew what their science homework was.
3.) If that doesn't work, tell them to stop. Example: Bob was really getting mad, so he finally screamed at Sally to shut up. Sally shut up.
4.) If they ask you on some sort of instant messenger or email, either log off or block them until they stop asking. Example: Sally started to im Bob on AIM to try and find out. Every time she did, Bob immediately logged off.
5.) If someone tells you a secret, never tell! (unless they want you to). Example: Samuel finally decided that it was okay for Bob to tell Sally. So, the next day Bob went to Sally and told her Samuel did not like her.
